Many of the ski resorts of Korea are scattered throughout Gangwon-do Province, the region that gets the most annual snowfall. However, skiers based in Seoul will be happy to know that there are a number of great ski facilities just past the city limits, allowing for quick, convenient ski trips during the weekend.

Most ski resorts are large leisure centers that offer pleasant accommodations and convenient facilites to visitors throughout the entire year. Of course, the most popular time to visit the resorts is during the peak ski season from mid-December to the end of February. During this time, prices for accommodations go up and rooms fill up fast, so visitors who are unable to get lodging within the resort complexes are advised to check out hotels, motels, or pensions (inns) in the surrounding area.

All of the resorts on our list offer both skiing and snowboarding, with new snowboarding facilities constantly being added to keep up with the increasing demand for this popular new sport. Skiing & boarding facilities at the resorts are usually open from mid-November/early December until March or April. During these times, Korea’s ski resorts become the nation’s vacation hotspots, attracting visitors from home and abroad to the pristine mountainsides for unforgettable wintertime fun, whether that be adrenaline-packed runs down the mountain, sledding with the kids, or long, luxurious soaks in slopeside hot tubs.

An outdoor wedding in a garden is a wonderful location choice for your big day. With a little hard work and some help from Mother Nature, your wedding can be as beautiful as the one in your dreams. Here are a few tips to make it even more so and help you on you way to an unforgettable event.

One option is to have your wedding ceremony in the evening so your guests can enjoy the beauty a garden flower affords and with the reception held in the oncoming dusk, you have an opportunity to show off your favorite parts of the flower garden with lighting. Strings of white lights hung in smaller trees and shrubbery add luster to the affair and solar panel stake lights can light the way down pathways to help you navigate your guests to food or dance areas. Have ushers in attendance to help older guests to the bathroom and back to their seats.

Having your reception out of doors saves your budget on food as you grill for hungry guests. For larger weddings, have several grills set up and dedicate one to children’s favorites like hamburgers and hot dogs. Volunteers from friends or family can cook or you can hire professional grillers for your reception. This is less expensive than you would think and much less expensive than having the entire reception catered. You will afford your guests freshly cooked food, right off the grill.

Sound carries better at night and a live band will afford more quality than a D J. Make sure to have the band set up as far away from the food area as possible to avoid too much traffic in one area. A patch of grassy lawn makes the perfect dance floor or you can have one made from wood and linoleum that is fairly inexpensive. Surround you band and dance area with round tables and reserve a long rectangular table for the bride and groom and the wedding party. These tables are the perfect place to present your guests with spring wedding favors or garden wedding favors.

Most weddings have up to a year of preparation time so plan your garden accordingly. Cover less desirable areas with wildflowers; which are inexpensive and will grow in shade or sun. This will keep your guests out of trouble spots and children can be occupied by making bouquets from these as they are easily replaced.

Lakes and ponds are beautiful and inviting but do not be tempted to set up your reception too close. Large bodies of water are bug fests and mosquitoes and snakes love a good party. Protect your guests by putting some distance between you and water. Spay for bugs a day or two before the event and set up a barrier with a line of citronella candles. Certain flowers also repel mosquitoes and your region might support this so check with your local Department of Parks and Recreations for a list.

A makeshift wishing well is the perfect opportunity to get your guests to participate. As they arrive, have the ushers give each guest two shiny pennies and inform them they can make a wishing well wish. Let them know that one penny is for good wishes for the bride and groom and one is for them. You can then set up a camera and microphone so you can make a video of your well-wisher’s sentiments.

Jim Gibbs is the retired President and founder of Gibbs Landscape Company, one of Atlanta’s leading landscape companies for more than 40 years. He and his company are the recipient of more than 250 awards. Mr. Gibbs began his career after graduating from The University of Georgia in 1965 with a B.S. Degree and a major in horticulture and a minor in landscape architecture. Ceremonies to present two of his national landscape awards were held at gala White House receptions. Gibbs Gardens is the perfect setting for that special day in the life of a bride and groom. They have several sites appropriate for the ceremony and tented receptions.

Carefully planned and organized family vacation can be real fun and exciting and certainly leaves us with great memories which can be truly cherished for the rest of our lives. Here are some tips to organize a fine family travel plan

1. The foremost thing which you need to pay attention is to choose convenient dates, keeping in mind the schedule of 90 percent of the people who plan to come for the vacation. Always choose a couple of potential dates and then you can ask for everyone’s input regarding their availability.

2. Go in for a central location. All the family members must be traveling from different directions and thus it becomes a necessity to pick a central location. You can certainly please everyone in this manner if all the members have to travel approximately the same distance to get to the vacation spot.

3. Search for a big hotel. It will be real fun if everyone can stay at the same hotel which will allow all the family members to spend enough time with each other. While organizing family travel plans, also make sure that you think about the amenities required by those families who have children. Also, each family will have its own budget and thus you can choose a hotel which offers expensive suites as well as less expensive accommodation.

4. Researching fun activities which can involve all the family members is definitely important. Do not be under the misconception that family holidays can be great fun just because all the family members are coming together. You need to research and jot out a set of possible activities for each day of the vacation. But, also remember that not all people will want to do the same thing so be ready for suggestions and alternate plans.

Following the above-mentioned tips is not an easy task, however, you will notice that your tension will be eased if you follow these suggestions which will make sure that you organize a fantastic family travel plan for your loved ones.

When it comes to selecting travel agents, there are a few pointers to remember. First you have to know your needs. Of course, a good travel agent will without doubt ask about your needs, but it is still easier if you volunteer the information yourself. You have to share with your agent the following information:

o Vacation purpose
o Vacation spot and activities you’ll want to engage in once you reach your destination
o Transportation e.g. cruise, long drive by car, etc. and if you’ll need a car to rent while in your vacation spot
o Your maximum budget

Part of the process of remarkable travel agent selection is for you to ask the right questions. You should find out if the agent has his or her specialties e.g. cruise line specialty, island hopping specialty, and the likes. Prior to selecting an agent, you should also ask if you can contact your agent 24 x 7, or if there are only specific times within the day that he or she is available for questions and concerns. Another essential question to ask is what kind of services the travel agent offers and how much is the fee per service.

When choosing travel agents, you also have to consider how knowledgeable they are. For example, a travel agent who only knows everything about cruises, but is not that knowledgeable about vacation sprees involving hiking, camping, etc. may not be suited for you if you and your family love being one with nature during your trip. Likewise, a full time agent may also be more knowledgeable and may be able to give better deals than an agent who works part time.

In the process of selecting an agent, you should also decide whether you need an agent with good product knowledge, fine destination knowledge, or both. For instance, you have travelled to Hawaii for a couple of times and know which hotel you want to stay at, but have no idea about the current price of tours and activities in the island – what you need is one with the product knowledge who will be able to present you with affordable packages that suit your likes or needs. A person who is a first time traveler to Hawaii, on the other hand, may benefit more by selecting a traveling agent who has both the destination and the product knowledge.

Finding the right agent for your planned vacation may seem difficult at first, but by knowing what you want to do, where you want to stay, your budget, and so on, you will easily get to transact with a good travel agent who will make your trip worthwhile.

The first step in avoiding theme-park burnout is finding accommodations as close to the park as possible. That will enable your family to take a rest break during the hottest part of the day without losing too much time. Most parks will stamp your ticket to allow readmission and since many theme parks stay open later in the summer, an afternoon rest will allow you to enjoy the park during the cooler evening hours.

Another step in the planning process is to examine park maps and websites to determine which attractions you want to visit beforehand. This saves a lot of standing around peering at maps and trying to figure out what to do next. Be sure to involve your children in the planning process so that they can add their favorites to the list. Once you’ve determined what you want to do, develop a rough schedule and a walking route that will avoid backtracking.

The night before your visit, pack your supply kits. Each member of the family should have a small fanny pack containing their park tickets, a cell phone or two-way radio (these can be rented at many parks), a couple of energy bars, identification, a small tube of sunscreen, a park map and a small washcloth or a small pack of baby wipes. This is the time to discuss with your children what to do if they get separated from you and to lay down the ground rules regarding food and souvenirs.

One the morning of your visit, dress in cool, comfortable clothing and good walking shoes. Hats and sunglasses are also essential on sunny days, even for small children. One member of the family should carry a larger bag containing a towel, a pen, a pair of extra socks for each family member, a small first-aid kit and any supplies for younger family members such as extra clothing or diapers.

Try to arrive at the park at least a half hour before opening time. Some parks actually open earlier than their stated hours, giving you a jump on the crowds. When you arrive at the park, note where you parked your car on the back of your park ticket. Reinforce ground rules with your children before you enter the park. Once prepared with your supplies, schedule and rest time, you’re sure to have a great day in the park!
